What about this: Within 2 years, 80% of new businesses will fail.
Many potential entrepreneurs often start their eCommerce business thinking about the technical aspects of their website, but this is wrong for a number of reasons. Your sales plan is far more important. You need to understand what you are trying to sell, to whom you are trying to sell it and really why they should buy from you rather than anyone else.
The tools and strategies of how you achieve this will come later.
You need to put the excitement of starting up behind you while you think clearly if this business idea has got a chance. Find out who the customers are, and what they want. Know your unique value proposition; how are you different to the rest? Explain it clearly to your customers.
Even if all goes well with selling, will this product or service make a profit?
And if this business still looks viable, are you up to the task? New businesses are hard work, long hours, pay very little and have a stress level that you may not have foreseen.
If you do make it, sky’s the limit and it’s the greatest feeling on Earth.
