Open Source is not a modern trend; it’s been around since the birth of software. Under various guises it has been cooperative or shared software. To many people it just means ‘Free Software’. The big breakthrough came through the operating system ‘Linux’ and the ‘Apache’ server. Today Open Source is fairly ubiquitous.
